ABOUT US

We love helping couples who want to bring the art of flowers to their wedding day! Our garden aesthetic is one of the things that sets us apart. Another is how much we thoroughly enjoy working together as a team. Tulips and Twigs has grown into a beautiful and wild experience, and we wouldn’t trade that for anything! While we are totally enjoying the ride, we want to be careful to stay small enough to personally connect with our couples and understand what is most important to them.

It’s our desire to thoughtfully craft your vision so the captured images will tell that story for years to come. We will guide you through the process of thinking through your floral decor by learning about your interests and personal style, creating a complete and unified look for beautiful memories. What story would you like your wedding flowers to tell?

first a gardener

Meet Gaye - Owner & Lead Designer

Gaye began flowering as a gardener, learning from the best; her mom who is a passionate gardener, and friend Frances Parker, known throughout the Southeast as a garden designer with a deep knowledge of native plants. Gaye’s love of gardening led to helping friends with their wedding flowers and design. Fast-forward through the years and Tulips and Twigs was born. “There was that moment when my youngest child was about to graduate and I thought this would be a great adventure for my new season of life…and I was right! I have loved getting to know our couples, other professionals in the business, and of course, all the flowers!”

It is all about the flowers, but it’s not ONLY about the flowers!

At the heart of Tulips and Twigs are our couples and their families, and this sweet group of friends who make up our team.

Meet Lisa

Lisa is one of those rare individuals who has an innate sense of beauty and how to create it, while also being able to create spreadsheets and organize a hundred moving parts.

Meet Claudia & Sue

Sue and Claudia are our Flower Engineers. They see solutions to problems we didn’t even know existed; and they aren’t afraid of power tools.

We’re always adding new friends to our flower family!

Inspired by the Lowcountry

We love to include treasures from our gardens and woodland walks in our designs, and we want your flowers to reflect this special place you have chosen to begin your married lives together. When you connect with us, we will work with you to discover what your priorities are for your wedding day and your floral decor.

We want you to enjoy this journey and love your flowers! It can make all the difference.

Stewardship & Sustainability

small choices, big impact

We want to be good stewards of nature and believe that if we all do what we can and make small changes where possible, together we can have a big impact. As we have learned more about the harmful effects floral foam (you know, that green sponge stuff you’ve seen in flower arrangements) has on the environment, we’ve made changes in how we design. Several years ago we switched from using floral foam to chicken wire for holding flowers in place. Along the way we realized that this actually gave our flowers more graceful lines and freedom to move, so win/win! While occasionally we have to pull out a block of foam for some use, it’s rare. We really don’t like to use it and we very rarely need to. It takes extra effort sometimes, but we feel it’s worth it.

And what about all those beautiful blooms at the end of the night when all the dancing has stopped? Instead of throwing them away, we have some lovely young ladies who take them and rework them into smaller arrangements and deliver to people in nursing homes, shut-ins, or those who just need a little smile. We think that’s the best recycling of all!
